Summer Big Sing 2014
Members of Secret Singers from all 4 groups met for our summer Big Sing to mark the end of term and to have a big old sing to keep us going until we resume in September. Everyone brought some food to share and, despite my warnings that nobody was feeding everybody and that anything you brought which was not eaten should be taken home, there was still a fair few goodies left to suppliment the lunch of the surprised Saturday sailors. It was, as usual, a fabulous feast, and amazingly varied.
The weather was very kind too. After some blusteriness in the day everything calmed down in the evening and the lake became still and calm and gave a beautiful view for the singers.
We did start with a sing outside until the air raid warning was called- ‘midges!!!’ and we retreated into the clubhouse.
We sang all the songs we have learned since Chritmas and people joined in with those they knew and sometimes with those they didn’t know too!
Angela Dewey sent some recordings from that evening which are fun to listen too, although alcohol, a good dinner and party atmosphere perhaps took off some of the finesse in performance. However, performance wasn’t the objective here. It was all about how we felt about singing together and having a great time. We certainly did that!
