Secret Singers Diary Dates Christmas 2016
Dear Singers and Friends,
there are lots of things to get involved with in the next few weeks and here is the list. Please let me know what you are attending so that I can check that we have the right number of singers for the parts. Thanks
Wednesday 30th November, the Carers’ Chorus are singing at Great Harwood Medical Centre, Water st BB6 7QR. We could really use a few extra singers so please let me know if you can help. We will meet at 1.30 for warm-up and rehearsal and sing at 2.30 for about 30 mins. It is fairly low key as we are singing as people arrive for a Christmas Fair (raising money for a memorial to a young GP who recently died suddenly)
The songs will be Auld Lang Syne, Song of the Angels, Freedom is Coming (Christmas words), Let the Circle be wide, Dona Nobis Pacem, Noel Noel, Yoik, Rudolph (in unison) and funny words about shopping to the tune of jingle bells (also unison)
Thursday 1st Dec busking at Tesco Burnley . Carers link is having a promotional stall in the entrance and Carers Chorus have been asked to sing 1-4pm. If you can help, even for some of the time then that would be lovely. The song list will be the same
Tuesday 13th December Marple’s last class of the season will begin at 12.30 with a shared lunch followed by an hour’s sing and then busking in Marple Precinct
Thursday 15th Dec THE CHRISTMAS BIG SING, At St Peter’s church School Lane Simonstone BB12 7HR.
This is for everyone! We will begin at 7.30pm and finish around 11. There is no bar so bring your own and don’t forget glasses. Also bring some food to share and a £5 admission for singers (guests are free). There will be a prize for the best Christmas hat!
Friday 16th The Readstone Singers will perform at Haslingden Baptist Church in support of the Rossendale Memory Choir. The Carers’ Chorus will also do a set (Auld Lang syne, song of the Angels and Freedom) We will start at 7.30pm, admission is £5 (I think?!)
Saturday 17th December Busking in Burnley, Charter Walk I have permission for us to busk in the shopping centre in Burnley from 11am. I have approached Mark’s and Spencer’s but they have not got back to me. If ,and when, they agree we will do the second hour in the shop. The whole thing will be under cover and we will finish at 1pm.Plenty of time for lunch and shopping. We will meet at the lift to the market and anything we collect will go to Medicins Sans Frontiers. Wear your silly hat!!
Sunday 18th December Busking at Gordon Riggs Garden Centre Todmorden OL14 7TJ from 1-3pm. They are paying us £100 for our collection for Medicins sans Frontiers along with anything we can collect on the day. It is their busiest shopping day so it should be fun especially as the last sing of the season, all are welcome to join in.
The very last thing, before I go off for a lie down, is the Readstone Singers main concert at St Johns Church Read BB12 7RL. All proceeds will be donated to The Northern Cleft Foundation which supports north-west medical teams going to India to do cleft lip and palette operations on children who would otherwise not get this life changing surgery. It should be a lovely evening especially as the church will be in the middle of the Christmas Tree festival
Next Term kicks off week beginning 16th January and I look forward to sharing lots of new (and some old) songs with you then. Merry Christmas!! xx
