I have been playing!

I have been playing with a new app this afternoon and have made my own 4 part group! This is a very first attempt, so be kind. We did this Bowie mash up as a warm up earlier this year and you will be able to pick out the different parts andhave a go at singing along. All classes cancelled due to corona virus

it is with great sadness that I have had to cancel all the classes until further notice since today’s government advice that we should stop all non essential contact. I will miss you all dreadfully and hope that we all come through this worrying time to sing and laugh again.

Sing For Water North 2020

Secret Singers will be participating in Sing for Water North this June in Preston.  choirs from all over the region will learn the same set of songs and will come together to sing them raising money for this amazing charity and changing peoples lives forever. A New Venue for Read Secret Singers

one Day Singing Wokshop with Gitika Partington

I have arranged for Gitika Partington to come up from London to do a one day singing workshop for us. It will be at Accrington Library in their Lecture Hall ( where we had Sing for Water rehearsals) on Saturday March 16th 10.30am – 4pm. Gitika is a singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, music producer, choral director and educator with a wonderful and long standing reputation. She has published  several books of arrangements, some of which we have done with Secret Singers and others I have marked wistfully with ‘one day’! …

The Spring Term Starts!

So here we are, Christmas and New Year all over til next time, the decorations packed away. What now? Choir restarts! All classes restart this week and I have prepared some new songs for us to share. It is a great time for new members to start too as we will all be learning together. Secret Singers at Hebden Bridge Choir Festival

Here we are at Wainsgate Chapel above Hebden BridgeIt was a lovely day listening to the other choirs and doing our own peformance too. Such variety. There were Zarebi who sing Georgian songs with their haunting harmony, Bradford Women Singers with their strong messages and beautiful voices, the hilarious yodelling group and PICante the women’s choir from Germany who sang wonderful songs from around the world. The New Term for Secret Singers Community Choirs

We will start classes again on Tuesday 11th September for Read and Marple, Wednesday 12th for Todmorden and Thursday 13th for Carers Chorus and Nelson. It will be a great time for new starters or rejoiners to come along I hope that all my wonderful singing friends are having a good summer break, I certainly am. Lancashire Day at Pendle Heritage Centre

What a lovely time we had singing at Lancashire Day at Pendle Heritage Centre last Sunday! We mustered 41 singers in the end and they came from the Read, Nelson and Todmorden groups and there was also a contingent from the Carers Chorus. We made such a joyous sound, I am so proud.

May Break and following Performance at Pushing Up Daisies Festival, Todmorden

Just a note to say that there are no classes on for the first 2 weeks of May. This week is the run up to our daughter’s wedding and next week I will be lying down somewhere! 🙂 All classes restart for a new 6 week block in week beginning 15th May.
