We have done very well since our return to indoor, in person singing in that I have only heard of one couple being infected with Covid 19 and that was contracted over our half term break (so not at choir). It makes me feel that our vaccinations, testing, large airy rooms and other precautions are working well keeping us safe whilst we are having such fun singing. The First Half Term and a Christmas Performance
Well, we are developing a lovely group of East Lancs Secret Singers at our new venue, Nazareth Unitarian Church in Padiham and the sound we are making is just wonderful! We are having plenty of laughs too as we start to gel together as one group. It has been great to welcome some of the singers from Janet Swan’s old group and, happily, some new members too. The New Term
It has all been very worrying trying to guess how many singers would return and whether it would even be allowed ! In the end I decided to make a big change and establish the new East Lancs. Secret Singers group, an amalgamation of the previous Read and Nelson groups and the East Lancs. Carers Chorus. Summer Recess
Thank you to all who came to the summer term’s outdoor sessions. Everyone did really well and we had lots of laughs. lots of you were surprised at how you adapted to singing whilst a bit more spread out, odd at first but that got better and you got use to relying more on what you could do yourself than on other people. I think that growth in confidence was a very positive thing! have a lovely summer everyone, see you in September. Olwyn x
Just 4 more chances to sing before the summer break!
The summer break will begin after the 20th July and will go on until 20th September. However, that means that we still have 4 weeks of singing left! We have been very lucky with the weather so far so keep your fingers crossed!! outdoor classes are doing well!
So this will be our 3rd week of outdoor singing and it has been a joy to hear everyone. I didn’t realise that you could miss people’s legs so much!!!! (obviously in a totally non creepy way!) We can Sing Together Again!
Yes, we can sing together again, IN PERSON! Albeit only outdoors but it is a firm step in the right direction. Venues arranged and risk assessments are all done. songs chosen and prepared and a rain jacket for our banner cum word sheet holder has been fashioned (wait til you see it, it’s really something!)
