We can Sing Together Again!

Yes, we can sing together again, IN PERSON! Albeit only outdoors but it is a firm step in the right direction. Venues arranged and risk assessments are all done. songs chosen and prepared and a rain jacket for our banner cum word sheet holder has been fashioned (wait til you see it, it’s really something!) We started this week. Todmorden should have been first to kick off but with a forecast of 77% chance of rain I cancelled. However Tuesday was a new day and perfect for both the Marple …

Merry Christmas Everyone!

On this day when the light at the end of the tunnel shines that bit brighter and the first vaccines against Covid19 have been given i have decided that a little singing might be in order. Although, here in Lancashire, we are in tier 3 there are special rules for carol singing!! we can only be in groups of 6 and must be socially distanced but I am going to give it a go here in my home village of Read. The 3 songs we will use are now uploaded …

Song of a couple of weeks ago, Paul’s Shanty

I did this song after Graham from the Marple group said how much he liked it. I did email it to all members but forgot to put it here. I was getting proper silly with the makeup and costumes so enjoy. https://mixcord.co/acapella/p/FowOXPFsrzYBttHi5vrouw/

Song of the week, collaboration, Shine on Me

For ‘Song of the week’ this week I have had help from our dear friend Peter Whittham. The song is Shine on Me. It is quite a while since we sang this in class and some of you will remember that it was such a favourite of Nic Dennison that we sang it at his funeral. It is a joyful song and I hope you enjoy it. https://mixcord.co/acapella/p/_UMEMNbbAC3Iq7omWm47Qw/ Don’t forget you may need to copy this link and paste it into your browser. As usual, the individual parts are in …

The individual parts recordings are in the members area for you to practice  and then let rip at your next celebration! https://mixcord.co/acapella/p/mhQeQnX5c1pDbCxLmnZw4A

Song of the Week, Fire in my Heart

This week’s Song of the Week is Fire in my Heart. No video this week just a cracking audio. We had a go at this song after I heard it at the 2019 Annual Gathering of Natural Voice leaders. It isn’t difficult and you can have a go at any or all of the parts ( not at the same time!) It was written and shared by Emily Robly who said this about it…. ‘I wrote this because the burning in my heart doesn’t always feel easy to sit with …

Two songs this week! Let the River Run and Friendship

Dear Singers, this week I was challenged to do Let the River Run. I took a deep breath and made a start only to realise that I already have excellent part recordings, including an all parts track and also there are YouTube videos of us singing for water in Manchester ( when we had to hide in the town hall corridors from the deluge) and of me rehearsing the massed Street Choirs at Kendal Leisure centre. Both will take you back , if you were there.  The parts are in …

Song of the Week, 4. Sorrows Away

This week’s Song of the Week is Sorrows Away. I chose it because of the line…. ‘since we learned a new song to drive sorrows away ‘ and because it also reminds me of the wonderful Mandy, of the Tod group, at who’s funeral we sang a personalised version with plenty of gusto, just as she liked it. It’s a rollicking good song, one to let yourself go with! The learning track is on the members area and the words.                     …
